On 29 May 2013, Cambodia made an official declaration of its commitment to implement the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Incheon Strategy to Make the Right Real for Persons with Disabilities.
Launched recently by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the “Make the Right Real” Campaign to promote the effective implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Asia-Pacific got another boost when over 200 persons, including Government and UN officials, representatives of Disabled Persons’ organizations and law students, assembled at the UN Conference Centre on 3 December, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The ESCAP Social Development Division organized the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the High-level Intergovernmental Meeting on the Final Review of the Implementation of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, 2003-2012 (Bangkok, 14-16 March 2012), bringing together representatives of Governments of the ESCAP membership, civil society entities and members of the United Nations system to:
