In alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Pact for the Future as well as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, everyone has the right to work opportunities. Many of the 750 million persons with disabilities in Asia-Pacific remain excluded from the economy, despite emerging opportunities in digitalization and growing inclusive business practices. This side event "Putting Disability Inclusion in ESG: A Value Chain Approach" will catalyze a multi-stakeholder dialogue on leveraging ESG frameworks not only as a compliance exercise, but as a strategic tool to build inclusive economies. By convening corporate leaders, ESG regulators and specialists, OPD leaders and governments, this side event aims to catalyze deeper thinking and collaboration towards using ESG reporting as a mechanism to mobilize scalable business practices on disability inclusion and put the ‘I’ for inclusion in ‘ESG’. The dialogue will also highlight the critical need to put persons with disabilities at the centre of a productive and inclusive partnership mechanism to co-design solutions
