Mainstreaming of disability inclusion, participation, and partnerships

  • [16 March 2020] The Armenian Red Cross Society is part of the national response mechanism, which is set up under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister. Its risk communication materials and community strategies consider issues concerning domestic violence, child protection, and working with persons with disabilities and migrants.icon link

Continued access to goods and services

  • [19 May 2020] The Armenian Red Cross Society psychosocial support centres still operate in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Yerevan, providing particular support for older persons and persons with disabilities. From March to May, staff responded to 15,618 calls, and volunteers visited and helped around 500 people. Additionally, the Armenian Red Cross Society took over the management of a 24-hour care centre in May in the city of Gyumri.icon link

Medical and quarantine policies and processes

  • [11 March 2021] Residents and employees of nursing homes, older persons and persons with chronic conditions would be prioritized in the early stages of the vaccine roll-out.icon link

Social protection and employment support

  • [18 March 2020] The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has taken measures to ensure that there would be no delays in the payment of pensions and benefits. Pensions and cash benefits would be delivered to beneficiaries’ homes.icon link
  • [18 March 2020] The deadline for fulfilling the obligations concerning pensions and benefits has been extended.icon link
  • [27 March 2020] The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has been planning for the provision of food and other protective measures for those who are more than 50 years old and persons with disabilities for two months.icon link
  • [27 April 2020] The Armenian government has provided financial assistance to lessen the burden of the COVID-19 crisis. For families that receive a family and social benefit, extra support has been given in an amount of 50 per cent of the benefit. Within this, 70 per cent has been provided in cash along with the benefit, and 30 per cent has been available as a payment for the energy consumed by the receiver.icon link
  • [6 May 2020] From April to May, the Armenian Red Cross Society expected to support 15,000 vulnerable people across the country with basic food and hygiene aid. The list of recipients was provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.icon link
