The Second Session of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities was organized by ESCAP (SDD in cooperation with SRO-SSWA) and hosted by the Government of India. H.E. Mr. Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, inaugurated the Session, reaffirming the Government of India's commitment to regional cooperation on disability-inclusive development in Asia and the Pacific.

ESCAP published a guidebook on disability indicators for the Incheon Strategy to "Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific. As a technical reference to conceptual and methodological tools on the 62 indicators of the Incheon Strategy, this publication aims to guide data collection and generation of ESCAP member States which have committed to establishing baseline statistics on disability indicators by 2017, the midpoint of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities (2013-2022).
ESCAP South-South Cooperation Programme on Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities” was held from 10 to 19 December 2014 in Guangzhou, Macao and Hong Kong, China. The Programme was organized by ESCAP in cooperation with the Government of China and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation. The Programme resulted in enhanced knowledge of 100 technical personnel, from 13 member States on legal and administrative measures necessary to make public facilities usable by all including persons with disabilities, as well as technical skills on accessibility auditing of public facilities.
The Second Session of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities was organized by ESCAP in cooperation with the Government of India through the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment from 2 to 3 March 2015 in New Delhi, India. The Session was convened in pursuance of the recommendations made and the rules of procedure adopted by the Working Group, at its First Session (25-26 February 2014, Incheon, Republic of Korea).
