ESCAP 69th Commission session decides on the membership of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022

The 69th Commission session, held in Bangkok, from 25 April to 1 May 2013, decided on the membership of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022. The Working Group, comprising 15 members States and 15 CSOs is the first of its kind to have an equal representation of member States and CSOs. It will have as its main task to provide technical advice and support to members States for their full and effective implementation of the new Decade. The members of the Working Group will serve for the first 5 years of the new Decade (2013-2017).

The 15 Government Members are: Bangladesh; Bhutan; China; Fiji; India; Indonesia; Japan; Malaysia; Mongolia; Pakistan; Philippines; Republic of Korea; Russian Federation; Samoa (sharing seat with Kiribati) and Thailand.

The 15 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Members are: ASEAN Disability Forum; Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability; Asia Pacific Disability Forum; Asia-Pacific DPO United; Central Asian Disability Forum; Digital Accessible Information System Consortium; Disabled Peoples International Asia-Pacific; Inclusion International Asia Pacific Regional Forum; Pacific Disability Forum; Rehabilitation International Asia Pacific Region; South Asian Disability Forum; World Blind Union Asia-Pacific; World Federation of the Deaf Regional Secretariat for Asia and the Pacific; World Federation of the Deafblind Asia and the Pacific; and World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry Asia-Pacific.
