ESCAP conducted stakeholder consultations in Jakarta and Semarang, Indonesia from 13 to 17 September 2016 to obtain feedback on an ESCAP-developed e-learning course on disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction. The consultations included high-level representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority as well as from organizations of persons with disabilities. In addition to the consultations, ESCAP held bilateral meetings with the Deputy Chief for Prevention and Preparedness of the National Disaster Management Authority, the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Governor of Central Java. All of the counterparts in the bilateral meetings expressed their support for the e-learning course and for promotional activities on disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction in Indonesia, a leading country in developing pioneering initiatives in this field.
