Mr. Frank Allen Hall-Bentick, International Portfolios Coordinator, Australian Federation of Disability Organizations, Melbourne, Australia

 

Mr. Frank Allen Hall-Bentick has been at the forefront of the disability rights movement within Australia and internationally for more than 30 years and he has worked to promote human rights and to achieve better opportunities and outcomes for persons with disabilities. Mr. Hall-Bentick played a pivotal role in the development of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities at the international level, and in its subsequent ratification in Australia.

Through his active participation in key government advisory bodies, such as the Victorian Ministerial Public Transport Advisory Committee and the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission’s Disability Reference Group, Mr. Hall-Bentick has challenged discrimination and worked for the full inclusion persons with disabilities in society.

Mr. Hall-Bentick was winner of the 2011 Australian Government Disability Minister’s lifetime achievement award and received an Order of Australia Award in 2012.

Mr. Hall-Bentick has also served on the board of the Australian Federation of Disability Organizations for a number of years and is the Founder & Chairperson at Australian Disability & Indigenous Peoples' Education Fund.
